Background
The Mac Studio is Apple's high performance, compact desktop computer. The third iteration was released in March 2025, offering an upgraded chip from the previous model. The Mac Studio (2025) is available with either the M4 Max or the M3 Ultra chip.
The M4 Max model starts at $1,999 and the M3 Ultra model starts at $3,999.
The 2025 Mac Studio, while still aimed at creative professionals, is predominantly targeted at AI compute with a massive increase in available memory, jumping from 192 GB to 512 GB max. The 2025 Mac Studio also has a new top storage option of 16 TB and features Thunderbolt 5 ports.
Identification
The Mac Studio is a small, silver cube with the following dimensions: 7.7 x 7.7 x 3.7 in (19.7 x 19.7 x 9.5 cm). It looks like a Mac Mini, but is about 2-3 times taller.
The underside of the device has Mac Studio engraved on it. The Mac Studio (2023) can be identified by model number (unknown) which is printed on the bottom cover along with the serial number.
