Whisperflow 2 CPAP System Users Manual
Background
Caradyne’s WhisperFlow 2 is a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine designed to be used with Caradyne’s Criterion monitors for an integrated CPAP experience. The Criterion monitors measure oxygen and pressure and can alert the user to a loss of either, as well as other system errors. CPAP machines use a motor generator to filter and pressurize air from the surrounding room and sends a continuous flow of pressurized air through the connected tube and mask into the user’s airway. The WhisperFlow 2 is designed for nightly at home use.
CPAP machines are used as a common treatment method for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) as well as other forms of sleep disordered breathing like nocturnal gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS). Using a CPAP machine can improve sleep quality and overall health, especially when it comes to high blood pressure and heart disease caused by untreated OSA. During the 2020 COVID pandemic, CPAP machines were also used with modifications as emergency ventilators.
