The Kenmore Elite HE3 is 7.2 cu. ft. capacity electric dryer by Kenmore.

no interior light; control panel lit; no start, just beeps

took apart to replace thermistor because it had heat but would stop before clothes were dry and display error code E1. While it was apart, did a thorough cleaning of cabinet & lint trap assembly.

Gekozen oplossing

Hey, Oldturkey03, thanks for the quick answer. Turns out I forgot to plug in one of the terminals in the upper part of the dryer......once I connected that we had action! The wife seems to think all is ok but have been busy & haven't been able to give it a real test with a day of laundry. The quick test we did do drying a blanket seemed OK and no E1 code appeared.

I wanted to add that the amount of lint in the area under the lint screen was unbelievable.................given that the slot is so small no brush or vacuum attachment could ever clean that! Inside the cabinet was bad too-found some scorched lint in the element area as well. Too bad the manufacturers don't make it easier to access these areas as a safety precaution-no wonder there are so many dryer fires!!

Thanks again for the help,

Guy

Guy, try to reset your dryer by unplugging it for 30 minutes and then plug it back in. If you get beeps when you push start but the dryer doesn't run there are two potential problems that could be causing this. Most likely one is that the thermal fuse is open but it's also possible the door switch is not working. Both of these parts can be checked if you have access to a volt/ohm meter. The thermal fuse can be checked without a meter if you don't have access to one. Download the diagnostic tech sheet from here. Also, if you do not already have it, download the service manual from here . Hope this helps, good luck.
