Flash Storage (SSD) Upgrade for 2.3ghz model?

It looks as if the "High End" (2.6-2.7ghz) model has replaceable\upgradeable storage, but does anyone know if the same holds true for the "Entry Level" 2.3ghz model? I have seen conflicting information about this.

True, the SSD inside is a proprietary module, but so was the SSD in the MacBook Air and a couple months after the release there were SSD upgrades from OWC. The ram is completely non-upgradabe because it is soldered to the logic board, but the SSD should be replaceable on the 2.3 GHz model. I doubt apple would change there logic board layout for that model due to the cost. I would wait a few months and there will probably be a storage upgrade soon but don't expect it to be cheep.

Hope this Helps

If you had bought the model with 256GB flash SSD module and later wanted to upgrade, I'm sure Apple will sell you the larger 512GB flash SSD module as a service part, but, it will be costly! Otherwise you'll need to wait to see what OWC or other 3rd party offers

Actually neither have replaceable/upgradable parts at the moment and have to be added to the build of materials at the time of order.

The RAM is soldered on the board and the SSD is a proprietary module.

Not fully correct - RAM is soldered and can't be upgraded. the Flash storage (SSD) is a plug-in unit and could be replaced. The question is what will the 3rd parties offer and the cost. A few have already stated (and now offer) replacement SSD units for the MacBook Air and The MacBook Pro Retina systems.

In the MacBook Pro Retina, the Flash Storage device is NOT permanently soldered to the logic board, and yes, it can be upgraded, on both the

not correct RAM is soldered and can't be upgraded, SSD is a plug-in replaceable unit and could be upgradable. Issue is currently it is a custom design to fit the tight space.
