Ethernet Part 'Cover' Fell off... Needed or not?

This part from the back side of the Ethernet Port has come off, how to put it back and which way around etc does it go? What is its purpose and can we live without it?

@livfe - Not sure where this piece of plastic came from, it’s not from the Ethernet port as you can see here in the iFixit image it’s not there!

Well, it’s not from the other side either as you can see here

As I hadn’t recognized the part I couldn’t tell you what it was. So… being metal implies a shield function but the metal surface needs to be electronically conductive to the ground plane (chassis or logic board) at least at the higher frequencies and voltages (static discharge) some adhesives can do this as metal dust is held in the adhesive to create the needed pathway.

It is not plastic, thin metal... fits in behine the Ethernet Port. Compare to your picture (Top Ethernet Connector) you can see part of it off the side., looking at it I think I put it back on upside down.... Anyway wrong answer ;)

I have to check it against another board, It kinda hugs the side of the Ethernet Port and it looks like the highlighted 'arm' part would indeed touch the chassis at some place or point... it is a very thin aluminum thing.... It fits from the underside of the board opposite side of the LCD connector.

@danj I'm glad you discovered a new part! I guess because we never used this Ethernet anymore it won't make any difference there or not..... although I will do my best to fix it back right and hope it don't fall off again and bridge something.... it never had any glue on it, kinda clips in somehow.
