-As I hadn’t recognized the part I couldn’t tell you what it was. So… being metal implies a shield function but the metal surface needs to be electronically conductive to the ground plane (chassis or logic board) at least as the higher frequencies and voltages (static discharge) some adhesives can do this as metal dust is held in the adhesive to create the needed pathway.
