Strip down and rebuild, now power button is not responding

My wife dropped her iPhone 4S and the screen was broken. She bought a replacement one off eBay and I have fitted it.

Everything works fine, sound, wifi, home button, BUT the power button on top is not responding. I haven't removed it at all.

Has anyone had any issues like this? Perhaps I've missed a connector somewhere. But it looks to me like the power button is housed in a self contained module.

It was working before I replaced the screen so I know its something I have done.

Thanks for any tips or advice.

Chris.

Thanks for your help guys. I stripped it down again to no avail. So I just told the wife to use it as is for the time being.

She then dropped it last week and smashed the replacement screen!

The second replacement screen arrived and I was much more careful when pulling the ribbon cables through the casing this time. What do you know, the power button now works. I must've bent the cables too much on the original repair job.

Thanks again.

1st - Check all of the flex cables to make sure they are all seated securely. It only takes one loose connection to cause problems.

2nd - Perhaps there is another issue with the battery. Was the battery properly conditioned? (When you first boight your phone, did you let the battery drain to the point where the phone powered off, and then charge it full the next day?) Surprisingly enough, batteries have a memory and can become dependent if not conditioned and/or left on the charger too long, or always connected to the charger far necessary. Usually way before the phone gets below 5% or less. Try to refrain from leaving the phone connected to the charger for more than @ 4 hours.

You might need to re-open the phone back and try to re-seat everything...it happens you might be dealing with other things that caused that to malfunction.

I have the exact same problem. I replaced the ear speaker and had to remove the power button and its two screws. I never did anything harsh and did a great job in the repair but no power button function now?? Also the phone will shut down on its own at 30-50% power remaining.. What's this all about?? What's my next move? I'm stuck

I will try #1. But as far as the battery is concerned, it's never done this. I did properly condition it a year ago when I bought this phone and this battery problem began after repairing the ear speaker. So

I suspect something happened during the repair

After a button repair, it did not work. After

Reading your answer, i rechecked the connection

And found it had jumped out.

But after also replacing my screen, it still has a black spot.

I will send it back for a replacment too.
