iPad 9 black screen. I can see screen if using flashlight

I have an iPad 9th gen. Recently the black screen of death appeared. I restored it and nothing happened. I saw a post about if you hold a flashlight to the screen and see it that means it’s the back light. I did that and sure enough I can see it. If that’s the case, would I have to replace the LCD screen? Or is it irreplaceable. Could it also be a loose cable?

  1. The back light is part of the screen assembly. A new screen ‘should’ fix it, however it’s also possible a backlight ic or something similar has blown on the motherboard. 9 times out of 10 a screen replacement should fix the issue.

Without examining anything I can’t be certain no guarantees but a screen replacement will most likely fix this.

The issue is with the backlight flex cable — it’s torn underneath the metal shield. I’ve repaired many iPad LCDs with similar no-backlight problems.
