My battery still doesn't charge after replacement

Hi,

Recently, my MacBook battery suddenly ceased to charge. I decided to carefully replace the battery.

Initially, my MacBook booted correctly after the battery replacement. However, to my dismay, the following day, the "no charging" problem resurfaced. I am unable to power on my battery (no signs).

Feeling utterly powerless, I'm uncertain about the next steps. Could the problem lie deeper, perhaps within the motherboard?

I appreciate any advice you can offer.

PS 1: Unfortunately, my Mac is unable to boot, preventing me from performing an SMC reset.

PS 2: I've already attempted to use different USB-C ports to troubleshoot the issue.

Sadly your logic board needs repairs, the Texas Instruments SN650839 Power Management chip needs to be replaced. You can see it in Step 9in the Demontage van de MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar which is the same for the 2017 model as well.

Thanks for responding. Are you sure that we should replace this chip? I searched for information on it but found almost nothing.

@kisac19781 - If you review the schematics and board view drawings testing the power rails voltages you’ll see this often fails.

@kisac19781 you can find it by using the given number, but it's a pain. Use the actual IC description. It is 7X7MM BGA 168 P650839A0B IC. Make sure that you check everything in your PBUS Supply & Battery Charger circuit before replacing one of the most complicated parts :-)

What voltage do you have coming into the board. What does your USB ammeter show? Have you checked PPDCIN_G3H_CHGR? what voltage do you get on there? What voltage do you have on R6921?

There are so many things you should check out before just willy nilly replacing a BGA168 IC. Not saying it isn't but there is no way I would do it without checking the board first.
