Hi Aditya,

You came to the right place! The whole idea of this site is to empower everyone to be able to repair their own devices no matter what it is. With that in mind, I located a YouTube video that steps you through the complete process.

Redmi Note 5 Pro LCD Screen Repair - Replacement - YouTube

Of course, you'll also need to source a replacement part; I usually look on places like Amazon, eBay and AliExpress first, but there are likely to be several other sites that come up on a search as well. Here's an example of an Amazon listing that would work.

Amazon.com: UFOM Mobile Phone LCD Screen TFT LCD Screen for Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / Note 5 Pro with Digitizer Full Assembly Phone Replacement Parts : Cell Phones & Accessories

The screen comes in both black and white colors, but in practice either will work fine, so feel free to pick whichever color you like best even if it isn't the same as the original.

The notes in the YouTube video give you a list of tools you'll need, but I would add some supplies to that list as well.

  • 90% or higher concentration isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol
  • Small tube of glue, something along the lines of B-7000 should work fine.
  • Q-Tips for cleaning the old adhesive off the frame
  • Stretchy, Command-style adhesive to resecure the battery. If all else fails, order some for an iPhone.

A couple of notes where I don't agree with the video; first of all, you need to use the cotton swabs and alcohol to clean the frame thoroughly before gluing the screen back on.

Second, when gluing down the display cable, peel off the protective plastic first, but then plug it in before pressing it down into the case. That way you're sure it will correctly reach the plug; if you do it the same as the video, you run the risk that it might not be lined up right and thus won't plug in.

Finally, once you're done, you'll want to put pressure on the screen as the glue dries. You can do that with specialized screen clamps, or lots of plain old rubber bands, or even just set something heavy on it. Whichever way you do it, leave it that way for the recommended drying time of whatever glue you're using; whenever it's possible for me I just leave it that way overnight to be sure of a good seal.

That will hopefully give you all the information you need to fix your phone! If you want to support iFixit's repair efforts you can buy most of the tools and supplies you'll need in their iFixit Store, or you can always find them inexpensively online if you prefer.

Good luck, and let us know how it all turns out for you!
