My iPod (160 GB) isn't working when I plug it in my laptop?

My iPod (generation 6-7, late 2009, 160 GB) isn't working. I've plugged it in my computer and iTunes no longer recognizes that it is connected, unlike how it used to. I've toggled the hold button and have pressed the menu and home button for 8-10 seconds but to no avail. What do I do in this situation? I've even updated iTunes but the issue still persists. My computer (a Lenovo yoga) has been updated as well.

extra information: it stopped working around the end of 2023 and it wasn't in use for a couple of months after I gave it to a family member. there are a few scratches on the screen and the back from being dropped but not to the point of internally damaging the iPod. The color is slightly chipped from the frame of the screen and a small dent is to the top left of the iPod.

Gekozen oplossing

When my Iphone isn't recognized when I plug it in to computer, the issue has always been the cord. Specifically the connection contacts. Sometimes cleaning the connections or spraying with an electronic cleaner gets it going. Try using another cord / cords. If that doesn't correct the issue, may have have a internal port issue in the computer which would really suck. Try plugging into a different computer , will help track down the issue to either the computer or IPad or cord.. Good Luck.
