You can try cleaning the laser’s lens. This may be because it is low on battery, too. Check this for more info. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps2/915821...

@jameshind It may be the best idea to get a new one, because lasers rarely last more than 5 years. It’s either the laser has been damaged/has collected too much dirt and dust, or it simply has existed for too long. You can try cleaning the laser by gently wiping the lens with a cotton swab/q-tip dampened with rubbing alcohol. Be careful not to put too much rubbing alcohol on. The problem can also have something to do with your disks. Sometimes after getting damaged, the laser will not work on certain types of disks (which could include the ones you are using), or your disks are scratched/damaged in some way and the laser is having trouble reading them. I hope this will help. :)

I've tried dusting the laser socket and the motor that it runs on but that did no

good so I think the laser needs alcohol or it's going to have to be a

replacement. the laser more expensive than the console but I don't want to

bin it because it was my mums old one when she was 18. So I looked on

Amazon it was about £20 odd pounds so I'll try to replace it I'll tell @Lydia Kh soon

when I get round to it.
