Verizon vs AT&T sim card

Is the sim card the only difference between the Verizon and AT&T model? Or are the electronics different for each? If so, how are they different?

Actually, there is zero misinformation. The Verizon iPad will work on most GSM carriers including AT&T. The AT&T iPad does not have the antennae set up to work on CDMA. So they are not the same. As well as the LTE (which was my original statement) bands being entirely separate, and non-interoperable they're both in the 700mhz band but are still different frequencies. The iPads are different. Do they have the same Qualcomm chip? Yes, so the antennae are the "same". But they have separate operating parameters.

Wi-Fi + 4G for AT&T

4G LTE (700, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

Wi-Fi + 4G for Verizon

4G LTE (700 MHz); CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz); UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

Curious if the physical right and left antenna are the same.? Meaning that the different frequencies do not require a physically different antenna.

The antennae are different between the two. AT&T and Verizon each use different bands for their LTE networks. The iPads are outfitted for each carrier to match.

The Verizon and AT&T iPad 3's with 4g are exactly the same. I bought an iPad 3 in Miami last week. The apple store only had the Verizon model in stock. The manager assured me that there was no difference in electronics or antenae...that the only difference was a mini chip from Verizon vs a mini chip from AT&T.

I was a little concerned as I live in Brazil and planned to use an Oi Velox 3G chip which operates on the AT&T frequencies rather than the Verizon frequencies. Thankfully the iPad 3 is working perfectly. This proves that the Apple store manager was correct and that there is no difference between the Verizon and A&T ipad 3 versions. It also means there are a lot of folks putting incorrect information on this topic out on the Internet.

Hey,

I live in Denmark and want to buy my Ipad in the US to save a bit of money, since i have a friend living there.

I was wondering which of the types i should get, the AT&T or Verizon? Do both of them have a micro sim slot? And are they locked to the carrier?

As far as i understand, we use different networks in Denmark for 4G/LTE, so it will not work with 4G, even the iPad sold in Denmark, does not work with the 4G/LTE in Denmark. So that is really not that important. But which of the two do you think will have the best chance to work with 4G/LTE in Europe, if you know anything about the networks and 4G/LTE implemented across Europe?

For me it seems AT&T would be the best choice since it runs on 2 frequency's for LTE? and as far as i know CDMA is only used in USA?

The cellular boards are different. AT&T model came with band 5, band17 PA and filters for their LTE bands. The model number is A1430. While Verizon ones came with band 5E and band 13 and model number A1403.

This conclusion came from the BOM list of iPhone 5. Could be the same idea

Just my input:

I have a Blackberry storm 9550 from Verizon that uses CDMA and GSM. I had this phone unlocked and was able to use an ATT sim card on it with no problem. I also unlocked my Blackberry 9860 model from ATT and installed a Verizon 4G LTE sim card in it and it would not take. However, I place the Verizon sim card in the unlock Verizon BB 9550 and it recognized it and I activated it, now I placed it back in the Unlocked ATT BB 9860 phone and voila! it working great!

Now I have two phone that can operate on both ATT and Verizon network.
