My Daewoo American fridge/freezer has stopped working

My daewoo American fridge freezer has stopped cooling & freezing.

On Friday it started clicking every 2mins or so...I didn't think anything of it til I went in the freezer for something & everything was soggy, the clicking noise is at the bottom right hand corner on the fridge side, there's like a grille panel there at the bottom, what could it be & is it fixable. Thanks

The issue you're experiencing with your refrigerator suggests a problem with the appliance's compressor or its start relay. Here's a step-by-step breakdown to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

  1. Compressor Issue: The compressor is essential for the refrigeration cycle, and if it's failing, it would lead to a lack of cooling and freezing. The clicking noise might be the compressor trying to start but failing. This is often due to a malfunctioning compressor or issues with the power supply to the compressor.
  2. Start Relay Problem: The start relay aids the compressor in starting up. If the relay is faulty, the compressor might try to start, fail, and produce a clicking noise. The location you described, near the grille panel at the bottom right-hand corner, is typically where the compressor and start relay are located.

Diagnostic Steps:

  • Inspect the Relay: You can start by inspecting the start relay. Unplug the fridge, locate the relay near the compressor, remove it, and shake it. If it rattles, it's likely faulty and needs replacement. Fortunately, this is typically an inexpensive repair and takes about 10 minutes to replace.
  • Compressor Check: Assessing the compressor is more complex and often requires professional tools and expertise. I would highly recommend calling an appliance technician to perform this repair. If this is the issue, expect a repair cost of a few hundred dollars at least.

As @jayeff called out, if you can provide your model number we can link the correct part for the start relay and see if we can locate a manual for more precise instructions.
