Why is my Kenmore range 790-9418* lights all on

My Kenmore stove which isn’t a induction range but didn’t have the one to choose but all my lights are staying on including bake broil timer and all other lights . It wouldn’t turn off the other night when making pizza and we had to turn breaker off to make it shut off.

@cinda46339 What model number is your stove? Which lights are you talking about? The lights on the control panel (if applicable), the oven light on the inside, or something else?

Model number is 790-9418* Sears and Roebuck . All of my digital display lights. Like the timer on/off light , warm and hood light , bake , broil , preheat . At this point I’m not even worried of the inside light coming in or off. I just need my stove fixed.

@cinda46339 First, make sure you have the manual. It is available at https://c.searspartsdirect.com/doc/13065... .

Did you set the oven clock? Apparently the clock needs to be set first before the oven can operate.

The issue you're experiencing suggests a potential problem with the control board or the user interface. Here's a breakdown of possible causes and steps you can take:

  1. Control Board Issue: The control board, also known as the electronic oven control (EOC), is the central brain of the range. It controls the oven functions and display. If there's a malfunction in the control board, it can cause the lights to stay on and the oven to behave erratically.
  2. User Interface Problem: If your range has a separate user interface or touchpad, this could also be at fault. A malfunctioning interface might send continuous signals to the control board, causing the lights to stay on.
  3. Wiring or Connection Issues: Sometimes, loose or damaged wiring between the control board and the user interface or other components can cause such problems.

Diagnostic Steps:

  • Inspect Wiring: Check for any visible signs of damaged or loose wiring. Ensure that all connections to the control board and user interface are secure.
  • Reset the Range: Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve electronic glitches. Disconnect the power for a few minutes and then reconnect it.
  • Control Board and Interface Test: These components may need to be tested with a multimeter.

Your full model number would need to be provided to provide specific diagnostic instructions and recommend the correct replacement parts. It should look like "790.********" where the * are replaced by 8 different numbers.
