Liquid spill, system works but is very slow

I have a MacBook Air 2019 that had a small liquid spill.

There was minor corrosion on one spot on the logic board, see pictures. I took it out and cleaned it with isopropanol. Didn’t remove the trackpad.

It took ages to reinstall the system, probably 2 hours. My guess is that the system is throttling. Just creating the user + password + home folder took 20 minutes.

The mouse was very sluggish during internet recovery but worked much better booted into the OS.

I downloaded TG pro to check the sensors and specifically the CPU 1 and 2 are behaving strange, jumping from 60-80-100 degrees C something within 1 sec.

System behaves quite normal booted into OS but haven’t had a chance to really test it. It’s the erratic sensor readout that makes me think something is wrong, along with the sluggish internet recovery and system behavior.

Geekbench scores are normal, 935/1664

I’ve seen another post here where the temp sensor for the battery wasn’t correct, and the problem was solved by replacing the battery.

I don’t have any fault codes in apple diagnostics.

What to do next?

These snapshots are taken right after each other. Seems like the cpu sensors are off?

@robertda12 - Can you tell us where you live Country and nearest major city. Maybe we can aim you to someone with the needed skills to fix your system.

BTW - There are a few more sensors just out of view. I hope we didn’t miss one down there that could offer us a bit more info.

Well… I think you discovered the area, cleaning the area is a start but there is likely more damage underneath and you may need a component or two here as well.

This is brain surgery! Most of us are just good GP’s, time to find someone with the deeper skills. Where do you live? Country and nearest major city. Maybe we can aim you to someone. Your other choice is replacing the logic board.

But before you travel down this path see what area is failing using TG Pro let’s see if a given thermal sensor is going nuts.

Sadly, Apples diagnostics is a bit limited so analog issues like this often don’t show up. Using the full version you should get a data file which you can import into a spreadsheet to plot the values and you also have TG Pro diagnostics which might show something.

Post a screen shot of the main window of TG Pro here make sure you capture all of the sensors in the snapshot or take two snaps.
