Xbox one offline update osu1 frozen for long time

My xbox is quite old and it needed two offline uodates. It won’t even boot into the homescreen it just takes me to the “it’s time to update screen”. I first did the update osu3 (or osu2 i kinda forgot but i know it was the right one) and i’m now doing osu1. I did it about 8 hours ago and it’s been stuck on step 3 of 3 Applying (29%) 74% that whole time. I’ve also done this update 2 other times but the first time i turned it off being impatient which messed it up and then i manually went into the hardrive to delete the system update files. Then i started the updates again and it was frozen on the exact same number, until a thunderstorm turned off my power in the middle of it and i had to wipe my hard drive to get it to work again. Do i need a new hardrive or is this gonna be another type of hardware issue? For some background, this console hasn’t been played for like 10 years. I took it out for the first time a couple days ago and factory reset it (not a good move) and it took me to the “it’s time to update screen and it wont do the update regardless of my wifi connection. This happens anytime i boot the console up. Should i keep waiting for this update just in case or go ahead and buy new hdd? the hdd doesn’t like its reading either it sounds like static.
