Why won’t my ignition turn?

I have the battery charged but the key won’t even turn to attempt to start the mower, does it just need a new ignition or is there a safety im forgetting? All levers are in place and I’m just n the seat

Guessing here that if the ignition mechanicals are exposed to the outdoors, rain and debris may get into the lock cylinder and create problems like the inability to turn with the ignition key. Further guessing is a separate ignition switch from the lock cylinder, either as a two piece component or as one single assembly. Tried flushing the lock cylinder with spray lock lube to see if it frees up? Tried reviewing the right, sidebar questions?

I did try lock lube with no luck. It seems locked down. Should I just replace it?

Replacing parts is easy unless you're interested in diy repairs. If comfortable, remove wiring connections and label everything. Remove the ignition switch assembly and examine it. Is it a two piece assembly with a separate lock cylinder and piggy backed ignition switch or one piece? In either case, having the ignition switch on a bench can allow you to try flushing the lock cylinder of debris to see if this can free the pins inside of bits jamming the cylinder from rotation. If this is a simple brass tumbler lock cylinder, working the key in and out several times exercises the pins with lube to free up corrosion. Worse case scenario is replacing the entire ignition switch assembly with new keys (unless they're universal).
