After water damage want to remove hard drive (ssd) in MBP A1706

Hi All,

after water damage and a huge repair estimate from Apple want to sell a MBP (A1706) for spare parts as defect on ebay.

Before selling I want to remove the hard drive / ssd. I opened the MBP but I really can't locate the hard drive / ssd. Also found no videos or only videos for 2016 version where the SSD was very easy to locate. But not in the 2017 version I have here.

Can someone help?

@timings - Take a look at Step 4 the Red chips are the flash chips that hold the data Demontage van de MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017.

Sadly, there is no means to remove the flash chips (the storage side of what an SSD would have). But there is a way to access the data! But you need a special tool that an Apple Store should have, but as the call for it as died many got rid of the tool. Some independents have them. Here on the logic board just on the other side (left in the picture is a long silver connector. This is the Lifeboat connector which allows access via a cable to a second MacBook to salvage the data if it’s not encrypted. If it is, the data can be wiped.

The SSD is integral to the logic board. You can't remove it.

Is the logic board basically the motherboard? and does integral mean glued or wired up? And any idea how I make data on SSD unavailable before selling the MBP
