Why my phone will not switch automatically to cellular data?

To get the cellular data to work i have to turn it off manually. It is Not switching on it’s own. So since i will not always remember to turn if offit will cause me to us up my data. So I figure apple is causing this on purpose.i have called themand they offer no explanation. As usual. If that is the case…i will not buy another iphone. But learning a new system is going to be difficult and prices are higher than they should be. So i am reluctant to anything till i find out more about this.

Your issue sounds like a software problem. Try resetting network settings via settings>general>reset>reset network settings. If that doesn't work, try restoring the device with iTunes or installing the latest update.

On a side note, you may want to upgrade devices as that phone is pretty much obsolete.

Yes, obsolete but it works for the little in need it. Also , I can’t reset the network since the screen time app is not accepting the code or allowing it to be set. I believe this phone has memory issues. Once it had to download the os since it wouldn’t recognize the phones code to open it. It’s just had to pay the money for something that doesn’t wash dishes or transport me to another universe.

It also has the most current update.

@Perry Green Why did you have to turn it off? When the phone is properly connected to wifi, cellular data will not be used.

It is too complex to troubleshoot jailbroken phone software issue, just revert it to almost clean stage.
