No keyboard and touchpad - MacBook Pro 2018

Hello,

I am having an issue with a MacBook Pro 2018 after replacing the keyboard. I have no keyboard or touchpad. Both were working before the replacement. I have tried 3 other keyboard but still the same.

I am unsure if it's the flex cable between the logicboard and the keyboard itself which is causing the issue as I do get fan spin which is connected to the back of the keyboard.

Any idea's what could be causing the issue? All other functions are fine, and the macbook works with an external keyboard and mouse.

Thanks for you help!

Thanks guys!

I replaced the trackpad flex cable which worked. I then decided to inspect the original cable further and could see a small lump of solder which had bridged the connection.

Removed and now all working.

Try replacing the flex that goes from the trackpad to the motherboard. It comes from the trackpad and go across the battery. It might have plugged off or got broken

Yes! That is the focus! But it’s also the logic boards connections too as I stated above.

I’m suspecting the cables or the logic board connectors have been damaged. Pop both the keyboard & trackpad cables off the logic board and carefully take some nice clear and tight pics of the cable ends and the logic board connectors. Make sure you get straight down or take from two images from the short ends and post the here for us to see.

Did you do all of the simple things afterwards like:

-Reseting the NVRAM/PRAM

-Reseting the SMC

-Master Reset (Hold Power Button with no battery for 30 seconds)

-Try the original keyboard (Probably not the best idea, that'll take forever)

All of these things are simple, but the problem might be simple.

If you have already tried all of these things, it can get pretty challenging identifying which part is broken (Keyboard, Flex Cable, Logic Board even). Unfortunately I do not have one of these MacBooks, so I really do not know how they look or work. These are just some ideas to get you started.
