I seen this once before, but did not think much of it at the time since the phone was fine. However, the issue was still there when I remembered someone saying they needed a donor camera to fix theirs. I didn’t want it even for parts due to the issue it has (bad aperture assembly, part is NLA but has what they need). Since I knew they were looking, I found sent a link (and those photos on what needs to be done to do the swap, being my 2nd round with this fault in the sense one bad a bad door and the other had a bad LCD but good door and I had a good LCD to swap over). The issue appeared again.

Is this look like a camera issue or a lighting issue with my phone?

Just to clarify, @nick, you're looking at the image quality of the photos and trying to decide if the hazy areas. are from lighting or if they're a camera defect, is that right?

If that's the case, I'm leaning toward lighting, mainly due to the third photo of the camera; the three photos seem to be at slightly different angles and the third one doesn't look too bad, actually. If it was a camera issue I'd expect the hazy, lighter effect to be consistent between all the photos, but it's definitely changing between the first, second and third photos.

How about trying some test pattern type images; something with a small repeating pattern filling the screen to check for any kind of distortion, and various full screen solid color photos to see if you get solid, consistent colors over the entire sensor array.

I dunno, man, you just don't seem to be getting any responses and that's about all I've got at the moment.

@dadibrokeit Yeah it’s the hazing. It’s not the first time but it was obvious on that black camera body to the point it raised red flags.

If this is about a iphone camera and not the camera in the pictures then take some pictures outdoors in natural lighting as indoors lighting is crap. I was confused as to the title then pictures of a camera. Bad test subject lol

@strongbow I had the photos from when I took them to send with the link to the dead unit I found so I used the ones I had the fault with to show it properly.

If it wasn’t obvious I know forced lighting is garbage by the fact I have that camera I used to show the procedure then consider this an acknowledgment. I’m not going to get into a argument over photos I took to show someone with the same camera how to repair theirs with a lead to get a donor, even a basic starting point when I know they can probably figure it out. If you can get it apart enough to swap the pin, you just need to know what needs to come off.

I don't think this is a defect, you just need to clean the camera, there is finger smudge on it.
