Apple Wireless Keyboard 1st generation A1016

2 Vragen Bekijk alle

Having issues with connecting my A1016 on Monterey.

I have an original Apple Wireless Keyboard and I cannot for the life of me get it to connect to macOS Monterey. It works perfect on Big Sur on there save machine and it also works with Windows 10 and Debian. I have tried SMC and PRAM reset, replacing the batteries, and a clean install of Monterey but nothing seems to work. Thank you.

EDIT: I contacted Apple and they have confirmed that the keyboard was depreciated in Monterey. Don’t know why but it is Apple and they are good at breaking stuff for seemingly no reason. A workaround is to install Big Sur (or earlier) on a separate volume or hard drive (or flash drive) and pair the keyboard and restart. Hopefully it will stay paired but once every few weeks it may not want to re-pair needing you to reboot into Big Sur. If your hardware shipped with Monterey or newer then as far as I know you are out of luck. Truthfully, it probably is time to start looking for another keyboard.

Apple has blocked customers from using the device they purchased. They want customers to buy a new keyboard. Discuss amongst yourselves...

Try disabling FileVault, I know this takes time and you will need to have a wired keyboard to do it.
