Panel won't light up, drum light on when door open

14-year old electric dryer. Panel won't light up when Start or any other button is pressed. Drum light is on when door is open. Tried unplugging and re-plugging in dryer after 15 minutes.

Two years ago, I replaced Thermal Fuse and Heating Element (entire Thermal Cut Off Kit).

Gekozen oplossing

Hi @skirudder

Seems like there may be a problem with the power supply to the console board (aka UI board- User Interface board] or the console board itself.

Here's the tech sheet for the dryer.

Go to p.8 Test #6 Power Cube and follow the checks to hopefully find the problem.

If it is determined that the the console board is the problem look for a part number on the board (maybe starts with WP as the dryer uses all Whirlpool parts) and then search online for the part number to find suppliers that suit you best.

Hi @jayeff. I wasn't able to locate anything labeled P2-1 or P003-3 on either of the boards. I updated my original question with images of the boards, if you wouldn't mind pointing me to the correct spots.

Thanks!

Hi @skirudder,

It may be that they're on the same board and there isn't two separate boards i.e. cube board and console board.

The reason I think this is that on the wiring diagram on p.12 there are no "connector" symbols for P2 i.e. circles) in the "cube board" as there are for the other connectors on the board (and on the other boards)

The parts list only shows a console board and a machine control board.

P3 is seen on the right side of the board in the 2nd image you posted. (I think that P003 is a misprint as there's no such connector on the wiring diagram. It shows P3 and the diagram matches the description for Test #6)

P3 is near the top to the right of P13 but I can't see the pin numbering but it should be as for all the ones below it.

On p.12 of the manual there's the wiring where the connections can be seen on the left side of the drawing in the Power Cube/Electronics Console boxes

If you have DMM (digital multimeter) you can check for the +5V on P3-2 on the console board. If there are no connectors there i.e. blank rows then it will be difficult Maybe a better image showing P3 will help further
