Why won't my canon SD 750 camera turn on?

When I try to power on my Canon SD 750 camera it will not do any thing. It was working one minute and not working the next. I was taking great pictures one minute and about 2 hours later it would not do anything???

There is no water damage!

No visible broken parts!

Battery is good because my Daughter has the same camera and my battery powers her camera fine.

Fred Hansbrough, make sure that your lens is properly seated. Your camera will not turn on with a dislodged lens. the other thing to look for is in your battery "door" Take a close look at it, you should see a micro switch that will prevent the camera from turning on (or it will turn off) when the battery is removed. Sometimes that switch gets stuck, or the little nib may even break off. You can try to use a safety pin to depress the switch and see if the camera will turn on. If you find that it is not caused by the battery cover switch, you may have to disassemble your camera and check fuse F601 DC-DC Converter on the main power PCB and make sure that it has continuity. If you need it, you can download the service manual by scrolling to "Documents" on this this page. Of course make sure that your battery contacts are nice and clean and you could try to connect the USB cord to your computer, putting in the battery, and pressing play. Hope that this will work for you. Let us know and good luck.

Update

Somebody woke up this old question ;-) so here is an image of where the fuse is located

There is a micro switch under the battery door on the sd chip side, near the hinge of the door. It's white in color with a black lever that catches a notch in the door to slide it toward the hinge as the door closes. The switch may be stuck or frozen or it may have gotten broke off,(no black lever protruding out of little white switch) and camara won't energize if it's not functioning perfectly. Canon's design is very poor in this area, the swtich is just a real little POS.

Had same problem. Camera died. Thanks to previous answers I was able to locate the microswitch, found the black nib had broken off so cut a small piece off the end of an eraser and placed it on the microswitch to make a contact when hinged flap was closed.

So far has worked perfectly.

Thanks to previous answers.

I have a third party universal charger. Its been a while since we have used our camera and could not get it to turn on even though the light was green on the charger. I realized that the charger allowed the battery to fit two ways so if I didn't put it in correctly the contacts on the battery were not touching the contacts on the charger. I flipped the battery over, charged, good to go. Hope this helps someone else.
