This seems strange as the problems you are facing are on different circuits. I would check the logic board connector and the components around it under some magnification.
The power button works by shorting this pin to ground. Try this with a pair of tweezers to rule out the buttons and flex.

is there another way to do it with much less risk to my phone? I'm not very good at precision so i dont trust myself to do that without killing the logic board
@senharampai You can measure that pin and see if it has 1.8V going to it. Besides that the only other way would be to put the logic board into iPhone 7 housing or try another power button assembly.
@imicrosoldering alright, thanks for the input. I’ll try asking someone better than me to do it. If there’s no voltage then does that mean that no button assembly for that part will work at all?
@senharampai Yes, no voltage would indicate faulty component on logic board.

So it boots fine when charge cable is connected?

@imicrosoldering yes it boots up and works just fine except that the volume buttons, mute switch, flash and power buttons don’t work
