wont crank with the key but can start it jumping the solenoid
why can i start it by jumping starter but wont start using the key

Maybe there is a problem with the ignition switch or the wires coming and going to the switch are damaged!
you could check for continuity when in the on position to eliminate the switch from being the problem…
