How can my battery die if it's consistently plugged in to a USB?

I have had my Jabra 510 plugged in to a USB continuously for a year and during a call it all of a sudden stopped working. Is that possible if it’s plugged in?

Hi Susan.

Lots of devices only use the battery to power themselves, while plugging in, it only charges the battery it doesn’t actually power the device, so once the battery is dead, boom the device also dies, even plugged in.

Assuming it’s a USB plug, you can try a larger charger, one that outputs more amps. The Speakerphone will only draw as much as it can and circuitry allows, so no guaranty that would solve your issue. Another possibly is that it’s just a weak battery and needs replacement.

Hi,

To add to the good answer, if it is determined that the battery is failing and needs to be replaced then here's the ifixit Jabra Speak 510 Battery Replacement guide that will help.

Replacement batteries (supplier example only to show cost) are available online. Just search for AHB582035PR 3.7V 330mAH battery to get results for suppliers that suit you best.
