SSD not recognised by customer

I’ve had this happen a couple of times: Sold a board on ebay that I’d tested with a couple of SSDs, working fine. Customer, or their tech, installs their board and it can’t find the SSD, despite trying multiple SSDs.

Board gets returned - I try my SSDs and everything’s working fine.

Is there something happening with a firmware clash on these? I know that there can be a clash between 2016 and 2017 SSDs, but there shouldn’t be an issue within the years, should there?

Did a bit more here what is the SSD and the board?

Happened with 2 boards, 1st was a 16GB 2.3GHz 2017; 2nd Board - 2.0GHz 8GB 2016. I don't have info on the SSDs used in the first instance, I'll ask about the 2nd instance - this is ongoing at the moment.
