Why does my 2011 MacBook Pro not turn on?

Hello everybody, I recently purchased a Late 2011 15’’ MacBook Pro missing a hard drive and a battery. I purchased a new battery and SSD. I got the machine to boot a couple times but after I did he data migration to my new SSD, the computer died on me. I recently replaced the keyboard, too. Magsafe charger reads amber and green, depending on the battery level and the battery indication works fine. Any solutions? I am leaving on the 2nd of January, so I need an answer quickly! Thanks!

When you say it died did it completely turn off or is it restarting itself or is it just losing video only? That particular model is known for having integrated graphics chip issues which can cause unexpected reboots and video troubles. The graphics chip is part of the logic board on these laptops so it may require a new logic board to fix.

Hey, thanks for your response. Once a got it to boot, I powered it off to seal it up, but when I went to turn it back on, there was no response. Also, the CPU and GPU are generating some heat when connected to power, so I doubt that it is dead.

no problem. And if you pull the bottom case back off does it turn on?

The CPU and GPU getting hot doesn't mean much. Just means they are working but not necessarily optimally.

The times I did get it to boot was when the bottom case was removed. I am concerned that I may have damaged the keyboard connector pins as the power button is connected to the logic board through the keyboard. Is there any way that I could start the computer without using the power button?

are there any dents on the bottom case? If so it could be touching something on the logic board and shorting it out and causing it not to turn on?? Just a guess..

The power button is separate of the keyboard connector so shouldn't matter.

There are power pads on the logic board that you can short out with a small screwdriver that will bypass the power button. Go here to find your model. https://beetstech.com/blog/where-are-mac...

There is a large dent by the SSD, seems unimportant to me, but you're the expert. Thanks for the tip about the power button.

The GPU issue, which can be compensated for by using Gfx CARD STATUS.

Yup, Gfx Card Status will help to mitigate the GPU issue and lessen the impact it causes.
