iTunes error 4005 and nothing on the screen

I just got an iPad Air where I was told “It’s Just Fried”. It is possible that it was dropped but I was told that it randomly happened.

After a few minutes of playing with it, I was able to get it into DFU mode. As it stands, there is no video whatsoever coming to the screen and the only way it interacts with iTunes is in DFU mode. I tried doing a restore in iTunes and got the error 4005 which from Googling looks to be battery or charging port issue. Any ideas what the problem is here and is it even worth fixing?

Gekozen oplossing

I would suspect that if the restore is not going through it would be more likely to be charge port or the logic board, there may be some sort of communication error with necessary components. I don’t suspect battery is at fault here, usually an iPad with a faulty battery will still give some signs of OS function, even if it’s just going into recovery mode. In my experience an error 4005 is a “not a good error to get” error and I would be leaning towards logic board if you can’t get it to do anything other than interact with iTunes in DFU mode.
