Why won’t the screen light up?

So I have a MacBook Air that I got in 2017 when I graduated, and all of a sudden it stopped working in 2018.

I took great care of it and I bought it brand new from Apple. The screen does not light up at all. The charger works, the light on the charger is lit when I plug it in. But no sign of life.

I took it to Apple and they said it was something to do with either the mother board or hard drive but I can’t remember. They said it would be like a 500+ dollars to repair and I just have a hard time believing a laptop this new could be damaged to this extent when it was well taken care of. It makes no sense and I don’t buy it.

Any other possibilities of what it would be? Damaged screen? I’m at a loss. The screen does not turn on at all.

Also, I’ve let it sit on my desk for years and gave up. I now need it for school again and I’m trying to find a cheaper resolution before I break the bank at apple

Good afternoon Courtney!

When you attempt to power on, are there any fan noises?

What is the color of the MagSafe Amber or Green?

If you can turn on the system and then aim a flashlight through the Apple Logo in the lid. Do you see a faint image of your desktop and its icons?

Methord-1;

Reset the System Management Controller to Fix-

1. Shut down Mac and connect it to your MagSafe adapter and a wall outlet as usual.

2. Hold down the Shift+Control+Option+Power button for a few seconds at the same time.

3. Release, then boot the Mac as usual

Method-2:

Try a Keypress Sequence to Fix-

1. Press the Power / OFF button once – this will bring up the dialog box which you can’t see

2. Press the “S” button – this is the shortcut to sleep the Mac

3. Hold down the Power button until a hard shut down is forced

4. Wait about 15 seconds, then hit the Power button again to turn it back on.

Hope this might help you.
