new MacBook battery say it should be warmed up, what does it mean?

I got a new lithium battery for an old 2012 macbook air.

It's chinese so the english language instructions aren't the most articulate.

On the box it says the battery is discharged and needs to be "warmed up" before full proper charge or it could screw it up.

Does this mean full charge and discharge 2 or 3 times before begin using it regularly? That's what I've read online about new batteries but wanted to be sure.

Yep! We call it calibrating the battery. Thats so the SMC logic knows the full & low charge conditions.

thank you, that's what I thought it was, but didn't see the term warm up very much online so I wasn't so sure, got it now.
