Ssd or the sata cable urgent help needed

Installed a used Kington SSD in a 24” iMac with 3.06 GHz Core Duo and maxed out RAM.

Installation went fine, however after restarting the system the screen goes white, on booting from recovery partition from USB drive it appears that the SSD becomes unintalizd. After formatting it again and installing El Capitan still again it boots on the software but gives the same problem on restart.

Tried several times but the SSD becomes uninitialized every time upon every restart.

Is the blank screen due the SSD or the SATA cable?

Pls help!!!

I’m suspecting you are hitting a system limitation here! The SSD you have is likely a fixed SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) which is unable to run in a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) system.

So its not the SSD that’s bad or the SATA cable its a mis-match of SATA I/O standards!

This gets into the design of the SSD being either Fixed speed or one that has the added techlogiy to match up with the systems SATA ports I/O speed.

A good way to think of it is like a bike which has a direct drive from the peddles to the rear wheel. or a bike that has a gear box so it can regulate the speed of the bike.

Review the spec sheet of the drive it should state clearly it’s a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) drive or one that lists the ability to run on multiple I/O speeds (Auto) like this one Samsung 860 EVO Vs this SSD which is a fixed SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) drive SanDisk SSD Plus

So adding the red sata cable wont work? Since i saw a similar thread in which they fixed the problem with a red sata cable

The color of the cable won't effect the inability of the drive due to it being too fast for your system.

@faiqahmad3003 - Pleaser take a picture of the packaging and any labels on the drive and post them here for us to see. I can't find the spec sheet for the

sdssda-120g-g25 drive.

Most SSD's sold today are fixed speed, there are only a few auto sense drives.
