Kitchenaid refridgerator not draining on defrost

I realize this question has been answered a number of times, but….my situation is a little different. I know about the u-trap drain hose and it is clear. My wife frequently spayed cinnamon in it to stop ants. New gasket stopped the ant problem. There was a ton of cinnamon that I flushed out of the drain hole from the top when I cleaned it. The drain in the freezer doesn’t line up with the drain hose so it has to jog somewhere out of sight. There appears to be a solid piece covering the bottom of the drain hole (maybe 1/4” down) in the freezer perhaps to prevent water from freezing in the hole. Is the some kind of electrically actuated cover buried out of sight that opens that cover during the defrost cycle?
