flashing green light model 62hm84

tries to power up, red light comes on then after about 7sec a whining sound then the green light flashes 6 times. it then starts over only then green light flashes 5 times, then 6 again. replaced the lamp but that was not the problem…I used to repair tv and vcr years ago but not sure where to start here.
