MacBook Pro 2016 Not Powering Up - Possibly shorted via keyboard?

Hi all,

I’m wondering if you can help me identify what part may be the issue here and the repairability of this laptop after my incredibly stupid actions.

While typing on my MacBook Pro 13" 2016 (touch bar model) the letter "T" got sticky and non-responsive in the middle of work.  Not been new to this I decided to clean it out but on this occasion I forgot about turning it off.  I figured I'd quickly pop the key off while on and clear out under the key and keep typing.  Bigger mistake was using something metal to do that while still powered on as the computer completely switched off soon after getting under the top of the key.

I have attempted the instructions for SMC reset as a guess but no luck.  I've disconnected and reconnected the battery contact to try and reset anything there.  The laptop does appear to power on to some sort of state as the mouse becomes clickable and it gets somewhat warm in the space between the 2 fans and those fans have been running when I've taken the bottom cover.  However, no keyboard nor screen illumination to indicate anything is happening, nor any power/image provided over USB-C.

Does anyone have any idea what the likely part needing repair is thanks to my stupidity? Haven’t got any repair stores or Apple stores remotely near me and if I’ve likely caused a very expensive repair job you’ll probably save me quite a bit of time.
