Troubleshooting cause of blinking sensing light: Whirlpool WTW4950XW2

Our washer has a blinking sensing light and won’t start, which I understand could be several issues. Looking for some help on how to diagnose what problem it might be. Given the times, we’re hoping to avoid having a technician come out.

First, what I have done:

- I checked the water. No standing water in the tub.

- I tried running a drain cycle. Wouldn’t start.

- I made sure to cancel the cycle and try again.

- I opened the top and confirmed nothing was between the inner and outer buckets.

I understand it could be the lid lock mechanism (looks easy to replace) or just about any reason involving the motor but am not sure what to diagnose next.
