Backlight issues after water damage on Logic Board

Hello,

I bought a faulty Macbook Pro A1708 - 2017 Function Keys model with the issue being the backlight not functioning for the display. I have a limited knowledge on circuit boards and wondering if anyone could shed some info on what I should be looking out for in terms of measuring voltage, resistance etc for the components and the necessary steps to check if all is working. I have the circuit diagrams and boardview to assist.

I have images below showing the damage on the board:

Underside of the Logic Board:

Topside of the Logic Board:

Thanks in advance!

So I managed to get the device working. All it needed was a clean however there are a few issues:

The iSight Camera doesn’t work. I open any app that uses the camera and the green light blinks and there is no image being shown.

Another problem is after resetting the SHC controller the Wifi temporarily stopped working - as in i was unable to enable it - it kept automatically disabling after i turned it on - Later resolved after checking the connections on the logic board (nothing was loose/unconnected) which was strange. Also, bizarrely this all was accompanied by the fan running at full RPM after I had reset the SHC controller. That’s fixed now but just mentioning it incase it has any significance relating to hardware.

Any help in finding the solution?

Well, you do need to do some deeper cleaning as the green corrosion and white staining. Carefully use a soft toothbrush to scrub down the areas that you’ve noted. As well as dust off the board.

Make a paste of equal quantities of cream of tartar and baking soda to clean the green cupric chloride off the logic board. Make sure to fully rinse the area with distilled water and then again with 85% isopropyl alcohol to help remove the water (drier)

I would recommend you spend one time reviewing Louis Rossmann’s video’s he can better answer your circuit questions.

I will give what you said a go and get back with any (hopefully successful) results.

I have watched many of louis rossmann's video's - but shall review the link you sent (very helpful) - thanks !
