New SSD (OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD / 480 GB) not recognized.
Used bootable USB drive to start (Was running Mojave 10.14.6). Also had external drive with backup of old internal drive. Disk utility only recognized the external drives. Did the Command-Option-R boot and got the Internet Recovery system which ran for a while but no change.
Is dit een goede vraag?
Can you boot regularly from the internal drive?

@mayer Yes. It boots and I can bring up MacOS Utilities but when I try to use Disk Utilities as you had suggested in a previous dialogue, all I see is "macOS Base System Disk Image Volume - Mac OS Extended macOS 10.15.3" which describes the 2 GB external USB drive that had the boot drive with Mojave OS. I get that now even though that drive is currently disconnected.

When I say it "boots" from the internal drive, I mean that ALL I get is the macOS Utilities screen - nothing else.

Correction: I shut down the computer, removed the external drive and then rebooted. Would NOT boot. Displayed picture of a file folder bearing a large question mark and nothing else happening. Will try to physically reinstall the SSD tomorrow just to be sure. If the new SSD needs to be formatted first can you tell me how I do that?

Use Disk Utilizes from the external drive to format the new internal drive. Use the plain APFS format if you can. Now install your system and boot from it. Don't be surprised if you can no longer see the external drive, you can still use Migration Assistant to move your user and APPS. If all this fails, just wait, I order the same drive today to go into the same machine, so I will be doing the same thing within the week.
