White band on screen with pink lines

Hello everyone,

I have an (old) Macbook Pro, and for quite some time now, I have a white band on the screen with some pink lines. The screen also is quite loose, but I don’t know if it’s related to the problem. Sometimes the band goes away, but I would say that on average it is always there.

I have attached the picture for you, for some more context.

I have also an LVDS cable for the replacement, but I don’t know if it’s necessary, because I saw that replacing it is a tough job. I am also waiting for a second display to arrive, but I think the problem is related to the cable.

Do you think I can solve this by replacing the LVDS cable? Or I might better check the one I have, and see if there’s something wrong with the connection on the motherboard?

Thank you so much for helping me.

Gekozen oplossing

Hook it up to an external monitor to verify if this is a display issue (which it appears to be), or a GPU issue, m then you will have a better idea of how to proceed.

Hey @mayer I have just attached a second display.

I don't see any white band over there. So "gladly" :) is a display issue.

Now I have to think about just replacing the cable, or the entire lcd.

What you would do?

You have a LCD issue, time to replace the display.
