Nope, The Core Duo machines logic boards and firmware are different animals from the i series models.

@mayer - I think he's looking on upgrading a i5 to an i7 here from the question body as I think you added the title. If Henri edited the tilted then you are correct.
@danj This was an added question from an old one on a (I believe) a Core Duo machine and I did put the question in. As always I could be wrong. But it didn't belong where it was posted.
