What does this error code mean?

4SNS/1/40000000:VDOR-18.312

I’ve been dealing with this since I bought it and just dealt with it freezing once or twice a week. That was my fault. Now I’ve got my A+ cert and I want to see if it’s something I can handle without taking it to Apple. So far I’ve deciphered that it is related to the DC voltage sensor but I can’t find anything beyond that. Suggestions?

VDOR = Logic Board - DC IN (Voltage) DC In

Your logic board and/or DC-In Board or Battery has an issue. The sensor is not able to measure the correct voltage on the logic board.

Can you give us some background and if anything was done to the system. Also, any other symptoms.

The only symptom is that it will freeze and have to be shut down manually about twice a week. It has been doing this since I bought it about 8 years ago. I’m the original owner and I’ve never made any upgrades to the hardware or had it serviced.

First Apple won't fix this system as its on their Vintage and obsolete products list An independent repair shop might!

If you are going to try to fix this on your own you'll need to dig into the power circuitry tracing it out. You might just want to find a new logic board to replace yours.

@danj I had a feeling that's what it was. Everything is square on the software side too. No rogue processes running or causing the shutdown. I've left it running for awhile without anything running and it would lockup. Nothing on the console that indicates something to cause it.

@cptnez - Did you get your system fixed?

Thanks for keeping in touch. I can't get a new battery until next month, I've heard that has been an issue. Will update asap

I found this online thread where somebody got the same error code on their MacBook Pro. It pointed to a battery issue and some rouge app. Not sure it it’s what is happening here, but it might be helpful nonetheless.
