My desktop only display a white screen

Hello (sorry if theres any grammar/typo in this thing)

I have a 1380x738 monitor / 13.5inch L-D Monitor (ye idk) one day i was just watching some nice youtube vid and suddently, white bars appear on my screen, i was like “wat?” and press the on/off button on the monitor, after that it display a white screen, i turned off my computer by unplug the machine then plug it back in, instead of a black screen with a “no signal” text appears, it just a white screen (i checked, its not because of the graphics card cuz i dont even have one, not because something wrong with the pc either, i can still hear the windows start up sound effect, while booting, the screen keep changing from white to black and then aqua and yellow, sounds funny but lel) its okay if it unfixable, but i just wanna know why suddently it just broke, while no one do anything to it

Hi @toara ,

What is the model number of the monitor?

Have you proved that the PC is OK by connecting another monitor to the video output of the PC?

If you don't have a graphics card there is always onboard video to consider.

What is the make and model number of the PC?

You first have to prove whether the problem is in the monitor or the PC and then you can move on to find the fault.

Hi @toara ,

If the PC has a HDMI video output connection, then you can connect the PC to a TV which has HDMI inputs and use the TV as a monitor. As long as you have a compatible HDMI cable to connect between the two devices.

If the problem does turn out to be the PC you can open it up to find out the motherboard make and model.

As I said just hearing Windows start doesn't prove that the video output from the motherboard is OK.

Hi @toara ,

What types of inputs does the monitor have, assuming it has VGA or is it DVI-D that you are using? (I can't even find a user manual for it)

What type of video output connector is on the PC?

Sounds like the screen panel went bad. Does it go away / back to normal after you leave it on for a while?

Was dit antwoord nuttig?
