Proximity Sensor not working after repair

Hi. I have recently replaced an iPhone 7 Screen. After a few days, the proximity sensor has stopped working, so when on a call, the other person can hear my cheek pressing buttons. Any ideas?

There are a number of reasons why this can happen:

  • The sensor is not properly aligned. Tear down and reassembly may help fix this. Make sure the plastic bracket is properly positioned like in the original;
  • The sensor cable or sensor solder joints were damaged during the transfer and now the whole front camera cable assembly needs to be replaced;
  • The cable needs reseating into the connector on the board;
  • The screen itself is somewhat defective and allowing too much light through. Specially for the black screens. Transfer the small white filter or try coloring a little bit the opening where the sensor sits behind the screen.

The tear down some what helped, along with the light issue. When transferring the old sensor cables off of the smashed screen, I never transferred the light filter, or the clear plastic gasket that was holding part of the sensor in place. I was unable to transfer the white filter over as when trying to peel this away, the filter scratched away. I have found a white sticky label at home that I have put in its place, in the hope that this would have worked, and so far, there have been no issues with this.

Thank you for your help!
