iMac Screen Flickering after SSD install

Hi there,

I recently installed a new SSD into our 2011 iMac to replace the hard drive.

All was working fine, however since screwing the LCD back in, the screen flickers consistently.

The brightness is set at maximum, if I reduce the brightness using the keyboard, the screen goes fully black. However I can still see an image behind by using a flashlight directly over the screen. I assume the backlight is not working.

I also purchased and installed a new display ribbon cable however that has not worked. Can anyone suggest anything?

Thanks

Hi! So I replaced the driver board. The flickering still occurs, however I have discovered that the LCD flickers constantly on max brightness now, but on minimum the LCD stays on? Before all I saw was black when I tried to reduce the brightness even by 1 bar.

I'm thinking LCD or the PSU? Can I measure anything with a multimeter?

Hi, thanks for the response.

What is the likelihood that it's the driver board? Like I said I just repositioned the screen, (everything was fine) then the flickering occured after next boot.

Some times when I put the new ribbon cable in I get a flash then a black screen, other times it's flickering.

On older machines it would be the inverter. The part is cheap and your best bet.
