SSD upgrade now mac wont load disk

Just recently purchased the SSD upgrade for iMac Intel 27” and when I boot the computer I get a blinking folder with question mark. Ive tried resetting pram, starting in safe mode, booting from disk, etc Basically Ive tried every start up trick I could find online but the computer still wont recognize the new SSd. Help?

Your iMac is missing the system software which is why the folder with a blinking question mark is showing up.

Your system might have the ability to do Internet recovery. How about giving it a try! Press either the Option -Command - R or Shift - Option - Command - R keys to start up from macOS Recovery over the Internet.

Mac startup key combinations

If that fails you’ll need to create a bootable USB drive or get a SATA to USB adapter so your old drive can be connected to your system.

Ive tried that and still nothing. The only response I get is the cursor showing up with a blank white screen when holding the option key down. With the other shortcuts the folder still flashes.

Ok I made some progress by reinstalling OS with CD.

@nmaezing27 - Any news?

@danj got the mac to boot by using the "S" command with OS x installer CD in and the old hard drive connected via SATA to USB cable. Everything seems to be working just fine. I appreciate your help!
