I have a oil leak coming out of the drain tube from water pump ,thinking it may be coming through seal around water pump shaft , there is no sign of coolant in engine oil this on a Brute force 650 4x4i , 2006

It sounds highly likely that you are correct on the bad seal or gasket (not limited to the water pump shaft). If the oil pressure is higher than the coolant pressure that would explain no coolant in the oil.
