ram upgrade

i have mac book g 4 1.2 ghz model a1054.

upgrade the ram to 1.25gb .

at the begin it was 1.25

next day shows only 768. what did i worg

please send me a answeare @ najim@live.ca

also in the internet i search and it is a comon problem

but how can i solve it ?

Hi! First I would reset the PMU and PRAM. If that doesn't help, I'd remove the extended RAM, boot up, and see what amount it says is installed. If it is correct (I believe it should be 256MB based on what you've mentioned), then install the extended RAM again, boot up, and see what the total is.

If none of this works, I'd boot from the Hardware Check CD and see if it reports any issues. Good luck!

to reset the PRAM, reboot your machine while simultaneously holding down the Command, Option, P and R keys

one other suggestion (no idea if this would affect your problem, but just throwing it out there...) - double check you've installed the correct type/speed of RAM. for your iBook G4, it should be PC-2100 DDR226 SO-DIMM. apparently this model will also work with PC-2700 but that will still only run at 266MHz.

You could try remounting the ram - take it out and put it back in. See if that helps
