Why is my computer not recognizing my battery is charging?

My laptop wouldn't turn on. I discovered one of the transistors was blown. I installed another transistor and the computer works great except the battery isn't showing that it is charging. The computer/windows 10 recognizes the battery is there, but not that it is charging even though the battery IS charging. I'm not sure if this is a hardware or a software problem… does anyone know how to fix it?…. Remember, it IS charging so any fix for batteries that won't charge will not work (I've already tried). Thanks!

The easiest thing to try is a different power adapter. You might also be able to go into BIOS setup and it might tell you if it recognizes the power adapter or not.

You may also try:

Uninstall the battery device driver and reinstall

Update BIOS

Hard reset the Windows 10 device, be careful with this method, you’d better back up your computer before doing this.

I tried deleting the driver. I also tried another AC adapter. I went into the BIOS and it will not allow me to modify anything with the battery. At full charge it shows that the adapter is plugged in (picture of the plug just to the left of the battery in the bottom right corner of windows). It just doesn't show that it is charging. Also the battery is not "X"ed out like it is if the battery isn't in the computer. So it recognizes the battery is there.... The battery charges fine, but windows doesn't recognize that it is charging until it is full. It's the oddest thing. I'm wondering if the battery itself has a pin issue

I haven't tried a hard reset. Not sure it's worth it for such a seemingly minor issue

It sounds as if all the juice from the battery is drained due to continuous use. You will likely need to buy a new battery for the laptop. Before you buy one, bring it into the place of purchase to see if they can troubleshoot it for you.

The battery charges fine. Lasts several hours just like before I had this issue. Thanks for the response!
